Alayne (Al) Campbell is a rusted-on Queenslander, born in Brisbane where she lives with her family and their much-loved little wolfie, Tippi Joan (pictured below).

Al's debut novel, The Keepers, was published by UQP in 2022. It is a story of family, and of mothers – good ones, bad ones. It's about things you find in the dark when you need them. The Keepers was nominated for two awards. In 2023, Al won a Queensland Writers Fellowship and a Varuna Residential Fellowship to support the development of her second novel, an historical noir, again set in Brisbane, inspired by real events.

The disabled will always be a part of Al's work, as loved on the page as they are in her life.
